Our Story

Where Hands Find Their Voice in Clay

For decades, the Clayworkers' Guild of Illinois has stood as a beacon for ceramic artists in the Heartland. Nestled on Main Street in historic Woodstock, our studio has been a sanctuary for beginners picking up their first lump of clay and seasoned potters refining lifelong craft.

We believe that pottery is more than a hobby — it is a conversation between maker and material, a meditation in motion, and a tradition passed hand to hand. Our doors are open to all who wish to learn, create, and belong.

From raw materials to finished pieces, we provide the tools, instruction, and community to help your pottery journey flourish.

Classes & Workshops

From wheel throwing to hand-building, we offer structured courses for every level. Join our beginner series or advance your technique in specialized workshops led by experienced instructors.

Supply Shop

Browse our curated selection of stoneware and porcelain clays, glazes, underglazes, tools, and accessories. We stock the essentials and the specialty items you won't find anywhere else in the area.

Kiln Firing Services

Don't have a kiln at home? No problem. We offer cone-rated firing services for both novice and professional potters — from low-fire glaze firings to high-fire stoneware and porcelain.

Studio Membership

Reserve your own wheel and shelf space with our open studio membership. Perfect for independent artists who need a dedicated workspace and 24/7 access to our equipment and community.

Group Events

Host your next team-building event, birthday celebration, or creative retreat at our studio. We provide the space, materials, and instruction — you bring the group.

Community Exhibitions

Showcase your work in our seasonal member exhibitions and community shows. We host two major exhibitions each year, giving local ceramic artists a platform to share their craft.
